Colorado is known to have some of the best mountain biking trails in the World. On the Western Slope of the Rockies you will find 4 main mountain bike areas that offer awesome trails with a wide variety of difficulty. Kokopelli Trails
Located in Loma, Colorado these trails run all the way to Moab, Utah. They offer beautiful scenery of the Colorado River and fun technical rock features to roll over. The world-renowned Kokopelli trails are a popular destination by international cyclists.
18 Road
On the outskirts of Fruita next to the Bookcliffs, you will find the 18 Road trails. Known for its fast downhill switchbacks, Kessel is one of the most popular rides. There is camping available in this area, which make it a great vacation spot. It is a long dirt road to drive in and there are restrooms at the trailhead.
Tabeguache
Grand Junction’s mountain biking destination. This area has seen a ton of improvements over the last year including a new bike park, a kids beginner track, and all around improved trails. It offers tons of trails packed into one main area; there are a lot of hikers and runners on these trails as well. During the summer the parking lot is packed full, but there is always other options for parking up on Mariposa Road. There are restrooms available to the trailhead.
Grand Mesa
Up on the worlds largest flat top mountain, you will find trails that meander through meadows, skirt along the edge of the cliffs, and offer some of the best views in the the Grand Valley. In the Fall the trails are golden yellow with the aspen leaves falling; it is a gorgeous time to visit. The elevation is around 11,000 feet so you might run out of breathe and be sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen and chapstick.
