When I first came to Colorado over 10 years ago, Grand Junction is not what I pictured Colorado to look like, but I slowly fell in love with this small town and everything it has to offer. These are just a few reason why I love the Grand Valley…
The Views
Unlike some of the midwestern states which are flat, Colorado is known for its mountainesque topography. And unlike some of the eastern states which are cluttered with a dense population of trees, Grand Junction is situated in a valley means you are able to lookup and see our beautiful landscape. To the east is the Grand Mesa, the world’s largest flat top mountain. Towards the south you will see the cliffs of the Colorado National Monument which looks like a smaller version of the Grand Canyon. To the North are the Bookcliffs, which resemble open books. There are views from all directions and it’s one of the reasons why I love the Grand Valley.
Awesome Events
From concerts at the open air amphitheater in Grand Junction to wine festivals in Palisade to bike races in Fruita, there is always a continuous flow of entertainment for all walks of life. The best part of our local events is that they are never so crowded that it becomes unbearable and most are family-friendly. View all the major events in the Grand Valley.
The People
Most people living in the Grand Valley are here by choice and because they want to be here, they tend to be nice. People will wave to you on your morning walk and local business owners will get to know your family. Overall I find the people to be pleasant and welcoming!
Great Hangouts
For being a smaller town, I feel like we have a decent amount of places to relax and hangout. Adults 21+ can enjoy a plethora of wineries and breweries, such as Edgewater Brewery. For kids we have several parks and recreation centers. For the tech crowd we have a tech focused co-working space. Music lovers can always find a band playing in town. For the avid golfer we have 4 top-notch golf courses and 7 disc golf courses. And the list goes on.
The Wineries
This is worth mentioning again. Palisade is known as ‘Colorado’s Wine Country’ for a reason… because we have a lot of wineries. Go for a day of wine tasting and get to know the local winemakers, visit them for an afternoon concert, or eat tapas at Maison La Bella Vie.
The Trails
OMG. We have so many trails to explore for all activities and skill levels. We have 4 amazing mountain biking areas which people all over the world come to visit. The Colorado National Monument has an abundance of hikes and offers stunning views of the valley. Take a short drive to the Grand Mesa to explore their hiking, biking, and cross country skiing trails. If you enjoy the outdoors you will be in heaven here.
The Weather
We have over 300 days of sunshine a year… enough said.
Why do you love the Grand Valley?
